Future NBA Star!

Well Tyler's team didn't win their tournament Saturday. The first game, Tyler played almost the whole game. They really have the potential for being a good ball team, but their coach hasn't even worked with them on screening out their opponent. That is a big thing to know when playing defense. After the first game the coach let them know that he had entered them into a 9th grade tournament. No wonder, cuz some of those boys looked like they were either on steroids or had pituitary gland issues! The second game they trailed behind by almost 20 the whole time. Coach did put Tyler in for a little bit and he score 3 points! That's his second 3 pointer of the year. I'm really proud that he has the guts to even try to shoot a 3. I tried to post a video, but it was too long, but here are some pics.

I know it has been a while since I last posted. So much has been going on and I just haven't had time. I have been devoting most of my time to Bryce here lately. I took him for a check up and found that his hemoglobin level was 7 (it's supposed to be 13). Dr. Nabors feels like this is due to his eosiniphillic gastroenteritis (EGE). We had to do stool samples to make sure he wasn't losing blood through his stomach and sure enough he is passing blood in his stool. We went to an allergist in Memphis to discuss his EGE. He was concerned that the Rast test (allergy test) done in the summer might have some false positives or negatives on it. Sure enough it did. They did the skin test. The poor baby got pricked 64 times in his back. It had to sit for 10 min to see how everything reacted. Final word...he is allergic to Soybeans, Corn, Milk, Eggs. He is on an elimination diet now to see if we can get his gut healed and his blood levels back to normal. Do you know how hard it is to find things without those ingredients? I have had to cook all of his food that he's eaten this week. Most everything you buy has corn syrup or soy something in it, so I have had to buy from the organic section at Kroger. I am going to the health food store today and maybe they will have a bigger variety. We go back to the doctor in Dec. to check his blood again...maybe we can start adding back into his diet again. Tyler has a tournament tomorrow, so I hope to have some pics to post of that and maybe a video. Keep Bryce in your prayers this week. We are very optimistic about his healing, but sometimes this can be a lifelong battle. Will post again soon!

County Fair

This week was so calm compared to the last few we have had! Tyler had his first basketball game Tues, but I was unable to go. They won against Hackleburg. Eric took the camera, but the memory card wasn't in it. He has no luck when it comes to the camera. His second game was against Red Bay Thurs. They won, but just barely. Tyler didn't get to play very long. The coach put him in 2nd quarter, but had him playing a position he knew nothing about. It was so obvious that he didn't know what the heck he was supposed to do. Here are a few pics from the Red Bay game

Tyler is # 11.
Here he is...LOST!

Last night was the County Fair at Pierce St. Eric and I had "tatoo duty" for 30 minutes, but the rest of the time we followed Bryce as he played games. It wasn't as crowded as it has been in the past, but there were still a good many people. Eric wanted to cake walk really bad, but the line was a mile long. That's ok with me though, cuz we do not need any cake in this house! Bryce's favorite thing was the Glow Room. Mrs Herring had black lights in her room and a strobe light going. The kids loved dancing in the strobe light. I tried to video it, but you can't see much. The art auction was a success. Some one bid on all three of my paintings. I was very pleased to see that. I also got some really good ideas for future art projects. Mom was a little disappointed cuz she wanted the one with Bryce's handprint on it. I told her I would make one with all of our handprints. Here are a few pictures of the county fair.
Eating Pizza! We all had our mouths full.
Football toss.
He thinks he's cool with all his tatoos and Lenny the Lion painted on his face.
Bryce and Cayson dancing in the Glow Room.

Today we are headed to a family reunion. I really don't want to go, but I know it means alot to Mamaw B if we all showed up. I am looking forward to the good food though.

Another new project!

Well we had a really great Halloween weekend. We had some friends bring their two girls trick or treating with us. There weren't very many houses in our neighborhood that participated. Either they were all old farts or had kids too. Anyway we stopped at about 5 or 6 houses and then came back home. Bryce wasn't too into the whole trick or treat, and the girls were really too young, but we had fun anyway. Saturday was a happy/sad day for us. A dear sweet family in our church lost their only son to an automobile accident and Mom and I attended the funeral. It was just amazingly sad and such an eye opener. He was only 19. Tyler will be 19 in 6 years. I can't imagine losing one of my kids. I think that would be the worst pain. Anyway so for the happy, my cousin Elisha is expecting her 2nd child (a girl) and we gave her a baby shower. It was so good to spend time with the women in my family and just have a girl party.

Ok so I have been asked to be the homeroom mother for Bryce's class this year. I said I would be glad to share the responsibility, so me another mom are co-mothering. As part of our duties we needed to come up with an art project involving the kids to be sold at a silent auction for the county fair. I made 3 canvases and had the kids put their hand prints on them. I didn't get a picture of the final products, but here are some pictures of them before I took them to the school.
I got so involved in my painting again that I decided to do some religious art for my living room. I have seen pictures similar to these on other blogspots for sale, but I thought it crazy to buy something that I could make myself. They look great in my living room flanking my entertainment center.
